Are Republicans Truly Postmodern?

I have been developing an argument (unsuccessfully up to this point in time) that political conservatives and the Republican Party in the United States understand the meaning and impact of postmodernism, while the Democratic Party tends to be stuck in a modernistic understanding of the world, of language, and of politics. In my view, this explains why Republicans have been able to win elections since 1980 with increasing frequency, despite the lack of support among American for many Republican policy stances. I hope to more fully develop this theory here.

To do so, I will need to develop a working definition of postmodern politics, and then illustrate the dynamics that I believe indicate "getting" postmodernism. Any help you want to give to this (including criticism) is welcome and appreciated.
